Attachez vos ceintures et regardez bien dans le rétro pour voir que l’esprit du groupe est bel et bien viseur, toutefois, prenez garde à l’angle mort car ce quartet n’a pas fini de surprendre.

Rétroviseur was Prize-winning of Jazz Migration 2010, AFIJMA (Association des festivals innovants de jazz et musiques actuelles) and FSJ (Fédération des scènes de jazz).
Rétroviseur won the first composition prize of the national jazz competition La Défense in 2011.
Punk energy hammered by Fanny Lasfargues and Yann Joussein (knitted duo in the rubato waves of discoax and in the devastating riff of Rückspiegel), cut with a scalpel and burnt out by Yoann Durand’s flamethrower, stirred up by Stéphan Caracci’s naggings. Somewhere else, the saxophone plays a minimalist and obsessive melody that swells up like a glass bubble blown by the raising tremolos of the vibes on top of the beating of what looks like an agricultural machinery with loose belts. Vive allure et dérapages contrôlés, échos rock et échappements noisy, difficile de ne pas évoquer la science lyrique du Masada de Zorn, autant que l’alternatif dissonant de Sonic Youth, dans la matière sonore soudée en écriture collective. " The first part, a splendid surprise, the Rétroviseur quartet.
The magic starts immediately, and remains with you till the end.
Yoann Durant shows some agitation, running to and fro, and twisting, fast bringing the mute of his soprano saxophone down onto the skin of a drum, then onto his knee, before unscreening the bowl of his alto and fixing hit on a pipe that he then, twirls in front the microphone.
It all happens in an instant with puffs and creaks. [...] and little by little, with the rest of the band, vibrating and rumbling behind him, a tempo sets in wich is never over-marked yet certainly powerful, and a modal line appears, bringing to mind something inexplicably reminiscent of Charlie Haden."
